We prepared a list of answers for the main questions regarding the Vektor system.

From installation of the hardware, to the usage of the system's software, we covered many common questions.

Can I use Vektor in any aircraft?

Vektor was designed to be used in any aircraft, including rotary-wing types. It is compatible with both 24V and 12V systems, thus no power converter is needed. The system is very compact, which makes it ideal to mount inside small aircrafts.

Is it easy to install the whole system?

The system consists of a computer, a GNSS antenna, and a lightbar. The computer is fixed in the aircraft panel through four screws. The lightbar can be used internally or externally. The antenna is easy to install, and usually there is a space reserved for it, in your aircraft. The system requires 3 cables, to connect each of the mentioned parts, plus the power cable. No special skill or training is required. An illustrated printable manual is available to download.

How I get the flow controller?

Vektor has a flow controller inside the computer. No external module, software upgrade or license is required. When you buy a Vektor, you're also getting a flow controller for free. The flow controller connects to a valve and a flow sensor. These mechanical parts can be provided by us, or can be purchased directly from many different manufacturers. If you already have the sensor and valve from other flow controller, they may be eligible to a direct connection with Vektor. However, we recommend our tested set of valve and sensor, to achieve the best performance.

How difficult it is to get started with Vektor?

When we developed the software, we focused into the user interface, to be intuitive and very easy to use. The screen is modern and composed of simple buttons, like a tablet application. Icons and illustrations were used inside the software to make it very intuitive. Pilots with some experience in guidance systems, usually are able to start working with Vektor in less than an hour.

Do I need experience in computers to use Vektor?

No experience in computer is required at all. Whatever you need to do, will be available with a touch in the screen. The system power-up directly inside the guidance software. The user has no direct contact with the operating system or any other interface than the Vektor software.

Are spraying patterns available?

The system has all the most used patterns like: Back-to-Back, Racetrack, Squeeze, Expand... The pattern size can be set by marking 3 points (A,B and C) or by specifying the amount of swaths/distance. An exclusive feature of Vektor software, is the ability to mark multiple patterns inside the same job. You can work in many different fields at the same time, alternating between them. After finishing one pattern, the system creates a new one identical, so you can continue to work without interruption.

Can I get a report of my job?

Report are generated at the end of a job, and stored in the internal memory. At the end of the day, the pilot can retrieve all the jobs and generate files directly in common formats like PDF and KMZ (Google Earth). The report contains detailed information of each second of the flight, the 3D full route of aircraft, sprayed swatch and area, flow measurement, and much more.

Can I use polygons to map the region to be sprayed?

Yes. Vektor allows you to load a polygon in formats like KMZ or SHP (ShapeFile) and then use for navigation and spraying. The polygons can be used to mark regions to be treated or protected. The lightbar will warn you with a countdown timer to the polygon edges. The system also output a signal to drive a relay and turn ON/OFF the sprayer automatically.

Can I use Vektor for navigation?

In most countries, the local law does not allow this type of system to be used as the main navigation equipment. However, if used for visual flight, Vektor offers waypoint navigation and real time map orientation. The navigation features can also be used within a job, to move between field points. You just need to choose the destination from a list, and you will be guided to it, with the lightbar and through map indications.

How accurate is Vektor's positioning?

The coordinates are acquired from the GPS and also from the GLONASS system. If available, the WAAS correction signal is also used to improve accuracy. Vektor uses advanced processing to improve positioning accuracy when in movement, generating correction data by comparing the different signals. The positioning engine used in this system, is part of a new generation of signal receivers, that incorporates recent advances from electronic industry to boost accuracy.
